Gerri Klein

Gerri Klein has a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of British Columbia and is a Certified Diabetes Educator. In 2023, Gerri was a recipient of the 2023 Nursing Awards of Excellence for Excellence in Advancing Nursing Knowledge and Research. In 2020, Gerri was named the Diabetes Nurse Educator of the Year by Diabetes Canada. Gerri was certified as a Diabetes Educator in 1998, and has maintained her certification by examination and continuing studies. She served on the Examination Committee for the Canadian Diabetes Educators Certification Board, and is a past executive of the Vancouver Chapter of the Diabetes Association Educators Section.

She was a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of The Diabetes Communicator for 3 years, a publication offering information to the Canadian Diabetes Association’s (CDA’s) Diabetes Educator Section (DES) members across Canada. Gerri is a past National Editor of the Diabetes Canada Canadian Journal of Diabetes.

She has both a professional and personal interest in the care offered to persons who live with diabetes. Gerri believes that persons who live with diabetes should have access to highly skilled, knowledgeable diabetes health care consultants who can provide active guidance as they move towards self-management of their condition.
