Maryam Mahjoob

Maryam Kabootari MD, IMG, works at BC Diabetes. Maryam has over 15 years of experience as a medical doctor in her home country. In her previous experience as a family physician, she not only treated patients with various diseases in hospital, clinic, and surgical day care settings but also played a crucial role in educating individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and chronic lung diseases. She advised on lifestyle modifications and preventive healthcare measures, showcasing a holistic approach to patient care.

Maryam’s professional journey includes three years of research work at Vancouver General Hospital, where she contributed to and published several papers. Her involvement in providing feedback and guidance to patients, especially related to chronic respiratory diseases, indicates her commitment to patient education and support. Additionally, her role in supervising new team members underscores her leadership and mentoring abilities.

She is described as knowledgeable, skilled, empathetic, respectful, honest and possessing a strong work ethic. Maryam joined the BC Diabetes team in 2023.

Maryam is not a registrant of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and therefore not licensed to practice medicine in BC.
