Dr. Gordon Francis is an endocrinologist specializing in lipid and diabetes management. He is a member and former director of the Healthy Heart Program Prevention (Lipid) Clinic based at St. Paul’s Hospital, and a physician scientist in the UBC Centre for Heart Lung Innovation also based at St. Paul’s. He is a long standing member of the Canadian Lipid Guidelines panel and led the use of nonHDL-cholesterol and apoB as preferred targets to reduce atherosclerosis, as well as using nonfasting lipid testing and routine measurement of lipoprotein (a) for cardiovascular risk assessment.
